In this article, you'll learn:

  • How to get 'quick wins'
  • The metrics Instagram wants

=============================

Lots of our monthly members are keen to get more followers on Instagram, this is natural.

But the most important thing to focus on is the engagement rate. You could have thousands of followers but if they don't engage with you then that just becomes a vanity number.

Ideally you'd want to grow your follower count whilst maintaining a healthy engagement rate too. Which is hard to achieve.

To get more engagement you need to have engagement on your posts, Instagram will then push it further and further, therefore it's very tricky to get right.

There are a couple of things you can do to assist you.

Family & friends

As you family and friends to follow you, and then make sure they engage with all of your new posts, ideally within the first 30-60 minutes of them being posted.

This will show Instagram that it's a post people could be interested in and will therefore start to push it to more people.

You don't want this to be a burden to your family and friendly, but if they can assist you here, or just simply like and comment on the posts they see then it will greatly help.

Instagram metrics

Instagram want people to spend more time on their platform, so, if people are spending more time on your posts then Instagram will naturally want more people to see this post as it means more time spent on their platform.

Here are some tips on how to achieve this:

  1. Post reels and carousels. These perform best and have a higher dwell time.
  2. On your last slide of a carousel tell people to 'read the caption'. This will then encourage them to spend even more time on your post by reading it.
  3. Encourage people to 'save your post'. Instagram sees this as a key metric.
  4. Encourage people to leave a comment by always asking a question in your post.

If, within your first 60 minutes of posting you can get a number of likes, comments and saves, whilst also having a good dwell time, your post will be pushed further.

This will result in more engagement and more followers.

Give it a go and let me know how it goes.
