It all started with a rubbish candle

It was 2018, Tamar had been working in a school for disabled children, and Paul was driving all around the East of England, helping his clients with their digital marketing needs.

On one of Paul's outings he stopped at a shop and bought Tamar a candle (it wasn't cheap!). Tamar loves candles and home fragrances, so he thought this was the perfect gift.

Despite the price tag, that candle was rubbish! The scent throw was non-existent, and the tunnelling was unfixable.

At the time, Tamar was becoming increasingly unhappy with her role due to internal politics. On one evening in February 2018, we were both unhappy in our roles and annoyed with this rubbish candle.

So, we thought, 'How hard could it be to make a good candle?' We bought some basic ingredients and started making candles.

Our family and friends loved them. One month later, we founded Cosy Aromas (or Cosy Candles, as it was back then) and started getting orders.

Fast-forward 6 years, we've generated over £7.5m in sales, hired 40+ people, had our products stocked in hundreds of shops, received over 300,000 orders across 3 brands and successfully sold our business.

Our time is now focused on building the Home Fragrance Academy to help other passionate candle-makers start and grow their business.
